While sections of this poem were published in both 1846 and 1850, the poem in its entirely was not published until 1941. 'The Brontes: Selected Poems" (ed. Juliet Barker, 1985) notes that "this is the opening of a much longer poem from the Gondal cycle entitled 'Julian M. and AG Rochelle'.
